Attuning

The Most Ordinary Recognition You Have Ever Had

You have felt it.

Not in a meditation retreat. Not after years of practice. Not in some elevated state reserved for the spiritually advanced.

You have felt it laughing with someone you love until neither of you can breathe. In the silence after music that moved through your whole chest. Standing somewhere in nature, when the mind went quiet, and something opened.

In those moments, something shifts. The world becomes vivid. The sense of being a separate person, alone inside a body, looking out at everything else, loosens. Something larger is present. And it feels more real than the ordinary state, not less.

We call these peak moments. We treat them as exceptions. They are not exceptions. They are glimpses of what is always already here.

What Is Actually Happening

I want to offer you a different way of understanding these moments, not as mystical experiences but as a precise recognition of something completely ordinary.

When two people share genuine joy, something remarkable occurs. The boundary between them dissolves. Not metaphorically. The field between two apparently separate bodies becomes one field. One shared experience. One unified movement of energy.

This is not poetry. It is the most direct evidence available that what we call separation is a construction of the mind, not the nature of reality.

What you are in those moments is not a person having an experience. You are the field itself, temporarily recognising itself through two focal points. The joy is not yours or theirs. It is the field expressing through what appeared to be two separate instruments.

This is what I call Attuning

Not activation, something switched on from the outside. Not transmission, something given from one person to another. Attuning. Like two tuning forks of the same frequency placed near each other. One begins to vibrate, and the other responds, not because something was done to it, but because they were already the same frequency that was always there. Contact simply revealed it.

The Illusion of Separation

We are taught from early childhood to experience ourselves as separate. A body with a name, a history, a set of thoughts and feelings that belong to us alone. The mind divides everything into self and other, inside and outside, mine and yours.

This is a useful function. The mind is a brilliant tool for navigating the physical world. But it is not the deepest truth of what we are.

Beneath the mind, beneath the story of being a separate person, there is a field. Open, neutral, inherently connected. Not as an idea. As the actual ground of experience.

You do not have to believe this. You have already felt it. Every moment of genuine shared joy, every experience of deep resonance with another person, every instant where the sense of being alone inside your own experience dissolved, these were not accidents. They were moments of accurate perception. Reality as it actually is, briefly visible through the gap in the conditioning. The separation is the illusion. The unified field is our direct experience, not our thought experience.

We Are Multidimensional

What the experience of shared joy reveals is not just connection. It reveals something about the nature of what we are.

We are not single-dimensional beings, a body, a mind, a personality moving through a world of separate objects. We are multidimensional. We exist simultaneously as apparent individuals and as the unified field in which individuality appears.

The personal is an experience that is real, and yet it is based on an illusory identity. The experience of being Julie, with a specific history and a golden retriever named Ginger, is real. But it is not the whole of what I am. And it is not the deepest layer. Beneath the personal is the impersonal. Beneath the finite is the infinite. And that infinite field is not somewhere else. It is not a state to attain. It is what is looking through your eyes right now, before any thought about it arrives.

Unity consciousness is not a peak experience. It is the most ordinary recognition available. Two people laughing together. A moment of awe before the ocean. The silence after a piece of music ends. These are not exceptions to normal experience. They are normal experiences with the personal overlay temporarily removed.

Attuning in Daily Life

Here is what this means practically.

When you are in the presence of someone who is genuinely resting in open awareness, not performing it, not teaching it, simply living from it, your own system recognises the frequency. Not because something is being done to you. Because the field you share is already the same field.

This is why certain people make you feel more alive simply by being near them. Why certain conversations leave you feeling expanded rather than depleted. Why you can feel something shift simply from watching someone speak with genuine presence.

It is not their energy entering you. It is your own awareness recognising itself, waking up in the resonance of the shared undivided field.

You were always already this. The attuning simply makes it visible.

And the more you rest in that recognition, not as a peak to reach but as the ordinary ground of what you are, the more the world begins to feel the way it did in those glimpsed moments. Not occasionally. Consistently. Not as an achievement. As a return.

This is your natural state.
Attuning simply reveals what was never absent.
